VidAngel is a streaming service for movies and, by request, these movies are filtered to no longer include scenes of violence, nudity, or basically anything offensive. I think this is actually a very good idea. It is left up to the consumer what they want to see, and that could be something that triggers painful childhood memories or they want to let their child watch their favorite movie that has one scene that doesn’t quite fit in.
But VidAngel is being sued by companies like Warner Brothers for copyright infringement because of their business model. A streaming service like this could be very beneficial to the overall movie experience, with studios having to worry less about appeasing all audiences and cutting the potential of their films because of that.
I think VidAngel is a fantastic idea and hope that it can make it through the lawsuits to continue to stay in business.
